Alfred Jensen: The Number Paintings

Published on the occasion of the 2006 exhibition at Pace Gallery in New York, this publication collects paintings and works on paper spanning two decades of Alfred Jensen’s practice, from 1960 to 1980. With a text by William C. Agee, this book highlights how Jensen used Pythagorean theory, the Mayan Calendar, and other numerical systems—as well as Goethe’s color theory—in his work.
